Mini Turkey Burgers

Serves: 9 mini burgers
Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground turkey or beef
  • ½ yellow onion, grated
  • ½ cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 9 mini slider buns
  • red onion, avocado, and romaine for garnish
  • Sauce
  • ½ cup mayonaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons pickle relish
Instructions
  1. Grate onion with a box grater and put into a medium bowl.
  2. Add turkey, bread crumbs, cheddar, dijon, salt and pepper and mix well.
  3. Using damp hands, take about ¼ cup of turkey mixture and make small, equal size patties and place on clean plate. You should have about 9 mini burgers.
  4. Mix all the sauce ingredients together and set aside.
  5. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a large skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Once sizzling, add the turkey patties and cook until done, about 3-4 minutes on each side (2-3 if using beef)
  6. Cut the buns in half and lightly toast. Place one turkey patty on each bun and top with 1 tablespoon sauce, lettuce, onion and/or avocado.
  7. **Alternatively, you can use romaine leaves as buns for a gluten free version.
  8. Serve with sweet potato fries.
